Gestational trophoblastic diseases (GTDS) are a group of precancerous and malignant diseases linked to pregnancy, the prognosis of which is generally favorable when treated adequately. There are many different treatment protocols in the world. To our knowledge, it is the first set of guidelines based on global consensus for trophoblastic diseases of pregnancy. Four international organizations (EOTTD, ESGO, GCIG and ISSTD) delegated 53 GTD experts in 31 countries that have made nine consensual definitions and the minimum criteria required to be a GTD center. In addition, 18 diagrams were developed on the site to diagnose, process and follow all primary or recurring GTN forms. Definitions and diagrams were written and adapted during consecutive meetings (online) until a consensus is reached, followed by an external revision process. The final guidelines are presented here, accompanied by the evidence available in the literature.
Practical guidelines for the treatment of gestational trophoblastic disease: collaboration of the European organization for the treatment of trophoblastic tumors (EOTTD) - European Gynecological Oncology Society (ESGO) - Intergroup on gynecological cancer (GCIG) - International Society for the Study of Trophoblastic Diseases (ISSTD)
